Funding - now closed
EASA is putting €20,000 towards supporting delegate attendance. We've applied for a further €10,000 from the Wenner-Gren Foundation to add to this, and hope to hear shortly if successful.
The rules and criteria are straightforward:
- Requests for funding may cover registration, accommodation, and travel, but NOT membership subscriptions.
- ALL applications must be submitted via the online form.
- Priority will be given to those coming from poorer economies and students, as well as those convening a workshop or presenting a paper.
- The form refers to University accommodation - we aren't in fact providing that, but please indicate how many nights' accommodation you'd like funding for.
- You do NOT need to state that you are a paper-giver or convenor, as we already have that info.
- Please keep your 'reason' concise. Details about your paper, how important this conference is to your career, etc are not helpful. Keep to facts regarding alternate sourcs of funding, etc..
- You should not seek 'double-funding'. Our aim is to fill the gap where there is no or partial funding.
- The form should recognise you once you enter your name and date of birth, if you already submitted a panel/paper. If it does not, please do not proceed, but instead email triinu(at)easaonline.org for a reminder as to how you previously input your name.
- If you make a mistake, please do not resubmit, but email corrigenda to conference(at)easaonline.org.
- Deadline: 29th February
We will endeavour to make and communicate decisions around the time that registration opens in early March. Funding will be remitted to recipients' bank accounts on receipt of electronic receipts for travel and accommodation. If a delegate does not attend the conference for whatever reason (accident, family emergency, visa restriction, etc), they will be expected to return the full sum. If receipts are not submitted, funding is forfeit. These are the conditions accepted in applying for the funds.
EASA2010 received 279 applications for €156k; we had €20k and could help just 68 people. EASA2012 will be larger, the institutional funding situation has deteriorated, and so competition will be huge. Applications have greater chance of success if the amount requested is low, as we are looking for maximum spread. We will fund those coming from Southern Countries who need more funds; but the majority of the funds will be spread as widely as possible.
More info will be posted here when we have it.
