GLOBAL CHALLENGES IN TRANSPORT PROGRAMME, SEPTEMBER 2019 COURSE, GCT PHD SCHOLARSHIPS - Deadline Approaching

A gentle reminder that there is only one week left to apply for the GCT PhD= Scholarship to attend the 'Infrastructure, Development and Finance' course= (3-6 September 2019), part of the Global Challenges in Transport Oxford Le= adership programme.

The scholarship constitutes a unique opportunity for 3 exceptional PhD cand= idates to be part of the executive education programme delivered by the Tra= nsport Studies Unit, University of Oxford, for a highly reduced fare of =A3=

  1. The programme attracts each year transport academics and professionals= from several different countries that meet in the pleasant surroundings of= Kellogg College to discuss the challenges of developing more sustainable t= ransport systems with the support of world leading academics.

The 2019 Infrastructure, Development and Finance course will introduce a ra= nge of approaches to thinking critically about transport investments, from = megaprojects to small-scale infrastructure developments. It will specifical= ly consider the role of different stakeholders and the tools and techniques= for transport investments and appraisals. Our session will cover key topic= such as:

  • PPP in transport,
  • the development of BRT in developing countries,
  • managing and designing the construction of transport megaprojects,
  • building and financing transport infrastructure for development.

At the same time the course will provide participants with innovative and c= ritical perspective and interdisciplinary approaches to transport infrastru= cture development, with insights from social science, geography and anthrop= ology.

Our speakers will include worldwide experts from academia and public sector= such as Prof Roger Vickerman (Emeritus Professor of European Economics, Un= iversity of Kent), Dr Tim Schwanen (Director of the Transport Studies Unit = and Associate Professor in Transport Studies and Human Geography, Universit= y of Oxford), Professor Naomi Brookes (Professor of Engineering Project Man= agement, University of Leeds), Professor Jon Shaw, (Professor of Transport = Geography, University of Plymouth), Graham Olver, and many others.
