CALL FOR PAPERS: Ethnographic Cli-Fi in the ‘New Pangea’ / ASA18, University of Oxford, Sep 18-21

Dear VANEASA subscribers, dear friends and colleagues

It is our humble pleasure to invite submissions for an upcoming conference panel at the ASA18 held at the University of Oxford (Sep 18-21, 2018).
This panel investigates the employment of 'Fiction' as an ethnographic method and as a mode of representation in Ethnographies of Ecology. With a particular focus on 'more-than-human' and 'non-human' anthropologies, biological and mediated frameworks transition from the Cartesian dualism (of human & nature) into fractured narratives of multivocality and polyphonic qualities.
It is through formic innovation and 'aesthetics' that the very confines of knowledge production, haunting such enquiries, are overcome; as witnessed with the development of interdisciplinary relations with arts and natural sciences, and the experimentation of audio-visual / sensory ethnography.
We invite papers that innovate and experiment with methodologies and modalities of Ethnographies of Ecology.

Blake Kendall (Freie Universitat Berlin) and Pavel Borecký (University of Bern)

Submission Deadline: closes at 23:59 GMT on April 20th, 2018.
Conference Theme: ‘Sociality, matter, and the imagination: re-creating Anthropology’
