Visual Anthropology, Media and Documentary Practices
Dear Institutes, Friends & Colleagues,

the application period for the next intake of our master program "Visual Anthropology, Media and Documentary Practices" at the University of Münster in Germany started!
The further education master program emphasizes an applied anthropology in the context of media, documentary art, and collaborative film/media production. It trains students
in theories and practices in the areas of visual anthropology, the documentary arts (film/photography/installation), media culture and media anthropology.

The program offers all classes as blocks of courses and participants need not necessarily be based permanently in Münster or Germany for that matter.
The curriculum is taught by international teachers (around 50 full days in the course of two years), which provides participants the possibility and flexibility
to live and work meanwhile full/or part-time and to stay elsewhere. The program might be completed in two or three years. (check out the brochure, PDF attached)
It would be great if you could share this call in your networks and with people who might be interested to get training through a program
dealing with the intersection between the documentary arts and anthropology, media anthropology, artistic research practices etc.
Distinctive aspects of teaching are perspectives on docu-fiction and ethnofiction formats and the applied visual anthropology
methods of participatory/collaborative cinema. Moreover, we teach perspectives on activist (visual) anthropology, digital anthropology,
indigenous media and artistic research practices.
In today’s globalized world, where media representations shape social and political spheres, a critical understanding of media and (audio-) visual culture is crucial.
Media studies, rooted in social anthropology, offers an in-depth approach to analyzing the complex connections between media, culture and society.
