The idea for the film "In Isolation" came up after the corona lockdown in
March 2020. This collective isolation, which started to put us all at a
distance from each other and the world outside, has so captivated me that I
started to implement this project overnight. The time from the idea to the
completion of the film was six weeks. I myself saw this time as very
multifaceted. I experienced it out of time and perceived a wide range of
phenomena; such as deceleration, relaxation, especially silence but also
insecurity, fear and loneliness. The closeness and distance between people
through the prescribed measures particularly affected me. This lit my fire to
experience
more about the perceptions and sensations of different people in this regard.
I went into questions how the protagonists experienced the lockdown and the
weeks after. What triggered the isolation in them, how they felt and lived it
personally etc. During the filming, the protagonists were affected by the
general exit restrictions: (Austrians are only allowed to leave their house if
they go to work, buy food, help other people or go for a walk - all with a
minimum distance of one meter.) The protagonists are from my circle of
friends, three of them were brought to me by close friends. I had extensive
discussions with them before filming. The choice of protagonists is based on
an intuitive approach. They live in Vienna, two of them in a small suburb and
a small village near Vienna. Many of them live in a family association, some
of them alone. Among them are a law student, an employee of a radio station,
two people who work in the health sector, a theological pastor, a
psychotherapist, a care assistant i.E. etc. In this film it was important to
me to capture the mood of that time and to bring different perspectives and
experiences together on the subject of isolation.



Die Idee zu dem Film In Isolation ist whrend der Zeit nach dem Corona
Lockdown im Mrz 2020 entstanden. Diese kollektive Isolation, die uns alle
begann in Distanz zueinander und zur Welt drauen zu bringen, hat mich so in
seinen Bann gezogen, dass ich von heute auf morgen dieses Projekt begann
umzusetzen. Die Zeitspanne von der Idee bis zu Fertigstellung des Films hat
sich ber sechs Wochen erstreckt. Ich selbst habe diese Zeit als sehr
facettenreich wahrgenommen. Ich erlebte sie auerhalb der Zeit und nahm ein
breites Spektrum von Phnomenen wahr; wie Entschleunigung, Entspannung, vor
allem Stille aber auch Unsicherheit, ngste und Einsamkeit. Die entstandene
Nhe und Distanz zwischen den Menschen durch die verordneten Manahmen hat
mich besonders ergriffen. Dies hat mein Feuer entfacht mehr ber die
Wahrnehmungen und Empfindungen unterschiedlicher Menschen diesbezglich zu
erfahren. Ich ging Fragestellungen nach, wie die ProtagonistInnen den Lockdown
und die Wochen danach erlebt haben. Was die Isolation in ihnen ausgelst hat,
wie sie diese persnlich empfunden und gelebt haben etc. Die ProtagonistInnen
waren whrend der Dreharbeiten von den allgemein gltigen
Ausgangsbeschrnkungen betroffen: (sterreicherinnen und sterreicher drfen
ihr Haus nur verlassen, wenn sie zur Arbeit gehen, Lebensmittel einkaufen,
anderen Menschen helfen oder spazieren gehen - alles mit einem Mindestabstand
von einem Meter.) Die DarstellerInnen sind aus meinem Freundes- und
Bekanntenkreis, drei von Ihnen wurden mir von engen Freunden vermittelt. Mit
ihnen fhrte ich vor den Dreharbeiten ausfhrliche Gesprche. Die Wahl der
ProtagonistInnen basiert auf einer intuitiven Vorgehensweise. Sie leben in
Wien, zwei davon in einer einer kleinen Vorstadt und einem kleinen Dorf nahe
bei Wien. Viele von ihnen leben in einem Familienverband, einige darunter
alleine. Unter ihnen befindet sich u.a eine Jus-Studentin, eine Mitarbeiterin
eines Radiosenders, zwei Personen die im Gesundheitsbereich arbeiten, eine
theologische Pfarrerin, eine Psychotherapeutin, ein Pflegeassistent i.A. etc.
In diesem Film war es mir wichtig die Stimmung dieser Zeit einzufangen und
unterschiedliche Sichtweisen und Erlebnisse zu dem Thema Isolation
zusammenzufhren.
