THE NEW NAFA NETWORK: A window into and a meeting point for the community of visual and multimodal anthropology

THE NEW NAFA NETWORK
— A window into and a meeting point for the community of visual and multimodal anthropology: with news, announcements, reviews, opinion pieces, the brand new VA-Map, etc, etc.
— I can't express how grateful I am for all the work and the amazing skills of my co-editors, Armina Dinescu, Anne Chahine, Anne Sofie Møller Askholm, and Christos Varvantakis which have been applied in the making of the brand new refurbished NAFA Network Website and Newsletter. Also many thanks to Berit Madsen and Anne Mette Jørgensen who originally founded the NAFA Network and took care of it for so many years as well as to Kayla Reopelle who took responsibility for much of the previous design and distribution.
— Go ahead and explore, and take part in the community by contributing your own work:)

Dear readers,

We are very excited to welcome you to our, and your, new home: nafanetwork.org. For the last couple of months (let’s be honest, it took a little longer…), we have been working hard to establish a more inclusive and accessible version of NAFA Network – the Nordic Anthropological Film Association’s newsletter.
Starting with this edition, all future newsletters and their content will find their place in the online realm. Make sure to sign up for the quarterly updates here to continue receiving our newsletter in your inbox: Sign Up

Thematically, we have created four subsections to explore:

1.) News: Here, you can find information and announcements from the world of visual anthropology and related disciplines.
2.) Blog: This is the place where we will feature (your!?) longer-form pieces, such as event or film reviews, interviews with ethnographic filmmakers and opinion pieces.
3.) Calendar: Have you ever wondered what’s up next? Our calendar will give you an overview of dates and deadlines for ethnographic film festivals and conferences.
4.) VA Map: A magical space where you can find teaching programmes, film festivals, labs and collectives in one place.

Let’s face it—we are nothing without you and your valuable input. We hope that you will join and actively shape this new platform together with us in the future:
Can’t find your teaching programme or collective on the VA Map? Submit your suggestion here.
Did you notice that specific film festivals did not make it into the Calendar yet? Use this link to provide us with the correct info.
Are you thinking about writing a review piece for our Blog? We are happy to receive contributions here.
Please observe that the deadline for blog contributions (between 800-2000 words) for the next volume is 15 June 2021.

Happy reading, and keep safe!

Your editorial team,
Anne Sofie, Armina, Anne, Christos, and Christian
