CFP Digital Anthropologies#6

Digital Anthropologies #6 Point phmre, Paris, France 15-18 November 2018

Call for entries

Every day, we share our knowledge, experiences, and emotions online. These are propagated and modeled by algorithms generating standardized writing. The sixth edition of Digital Anthropologies is an event that takes the form of a collective field, in partnership with SenseLab (Montreal, Canada).

Digital Anthropologies #6 explores modalities of production and of our shared writings as well as techniques of affective reappropriation by their participants. Our event is rooted in the practice of performances that engender belief (believe in doing) and produce the indiscernibility between the real and the imaginary (make believe). We propose a collective space of research that produces a belief in which participants can emerge with a multiplicity of renewed techniques to make believe.

We take a keen interest in fabulation, which emerges from the oral tradition and questions its own affective mutations in traces and gestures of transmission that are the acts of creation and research. It allows us to go beyond the narrative and methodological dynamics that often restrict artists, researchers and participants, and explores the performative and ritual potential of our artistic practices and enquiries.

For a few days, we invite researchers and artists of all disciplines to build a collaborative event, open to the public, where each of us will be an active contributor. Your work will be the main material of workshop-events that promote wanderingbreaking free from the need to present research material formally, and to live and share our processes in a new way.
