VA in Tromsø, new name, otherwise same same

Dear VANEASA friends, Here's some information about a name change here: Different name, otherwise same same: Visual Anthropology at UiT – The Arctic University of Tromsø UiT – The Arctic University of Norway has decided to change the name of its master programme, which for many years has been ‘Master’s Programme in Visual Cultural Studies’, to ‘Master of Philosophy in Visual Anthropology’. The name change will take effect from the academic year 2019/2020. The actual content of the programme (https://sa.uit.no/utdanning/program/269222/visual_cultural_studies_-_master) will remain more or less the same, while there will be a few changes to admissions requirements, emphasising the programme’s firm foundation within social and visual anthropology. In the future students must have a BA (180 ECTS) or an equivalent qualification with a minimum of 80 ECTS in social, visual or cultural anthropology. In addition, students from Europe, Canada, U.S.A., Australia and New Zealand must have a grade equivalent to a C or higher in the Norwegian grading system, and the equivalent of a B or A for all other countries. The deadlines for application remain the same, i.e. 1 December for international students (both self-financed and others) and for Nordic students 15 April. There are no tuition fees for the programme. For further information on admissions see http://en.uit.no /education/admissions and/or contact the student advisor, Magnus Lyngra, at magnus.lyngra@uit.no. All the best, Peter
