As many of you probably know, we are having a day-long symposium on the internment camps in Xinjiang at the George Washington University on November 27th where several people on this list will be presenting. In addition to this event, we are organizing a press briefing at the National Press Club. At that briefing, we are hoping to issue a statement signed by a substantial number of scholars studying Xinjiang, China more generally, and Central Asia. The text is attached. Anybody who feels comfortable with the statement's message and willing to sign on, please send me Your Name, Title, Organization as you would like it show up on the statement. Additionally, if you would like to recruit additional scholars, particularly from China Studies outside the Xinjiang realm, that would be greatly appreciated.

If you have any questions about the statement or press briefing, feel free to contact me.
