Call for Applications - Anthropology of Music Lecture Series / Master Class

Dear colleagues,

we are happy to announce the third “Anthropology of Music Lecture Series / Master Class”. It will be held as a physical meeting from July 13 to 16, 2022, at the Department of Anthropology and African Studies (ifeas), Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz, Germany.

This year’s focus is on

Attending to the Moment: Aesthetics, Politics, Sound.

Twelve young scholars will have the opportunity to present and discuss their ongoing research with Louise Meintjes, Professor of Music and Cultural Anthropology at Duke University (Durham/USA). The master class is closely related to a series of three public lectures by Louise Meintjes on the topic. We invite researchers at the PhD and postdoc level and with academic backgrounds in anthropology, (ethno)musicology, or related fields to apply for the master class. For more information, please check the attached call for applications and visit our website: https://anthropologyofmusic.com/

All the best,

Anthropology of Music Working Group at ifeas
